Wetland education can be incorporated into many lessons plans or provide a fun opportunity to take your students or children for hands on learning about natural ecosystem processes and functions. This site has wetland education materials developed to meet NC’s curriculum standards including printable materials, video, and pictures.


North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission’s 2020 Salamander Workshop

Mike Campbell and Jeff Hall present the virtual workshop that explore the wonderful world Salamanders. Learn what how to identify different types of salamanders and where you might be able find salamanders. 


Water Badge Challenge

ecoEXPLORE partnered with the NC Department of Environmental Quality in a new challenge for kids centered on hydrology and aquatic habitats including wetlands.

Highlands Biological Station
Highlands Biological Station & Nature Center is providing a wide variety of live, 
virtual programming for public, private, or homeschool groups in grades preK-12.  Virtual Programs are available via Zoom or Google Meet, and are designed to provide supplementation to the North Carolina science Essential Standards for each targeted grade level.Most programs last approximately 30-45 minutes, unless specific circumstances require adjustments to the schedule.


NC Zoo
Living with Nature
 distance learning event for the 2020-2021 academic year. During the event, you go around the Zoo virtually and often go places guests can’t go. This program is FREE but registration is required.


NC Climate Education Network
This network provides resources and inspiration for all educators interested in learning about Climate Education, especially here in North Carolina.
