The Swallow-tailed Kite, with its distinct black and white plumage, is one of the most elegant birds of the Americas, and unmistakable in the summer skies above the Savannah River swamps.
Check-in for the Kite Outing on July 21st begins at 8:30 AM at the LSRA Education Center, with a brief welcome at 9:00 before loading buses for the kite fields. After viewing the kites in flight, participants return to the Center around 11:30 for the guest speaker, followed by lunch and closing remarks. Our agenda is flexible and revolves around the appearance of the kites, but this event typically concludes by 2:00 PM.
