Bird House on the Greenway in Charlotte is partnering with North Carolina Wildlife Federation’s Butterfly Highway program to sell Milkweed, Purple Coneflower, and Black-eyed Susans. Milkweed provides food and habitat for Monarch caterpillars, and all of them provide nectar for Monarch Butterfly adults. Black-eyed Susans that have been allowed to go to seed are also a favorite among Goldfinches. The plants are $6 and the proceeds go to programs that support Monarchs in North Carolina!Bird House on the Greenway is also partnering with TreesCharlotte to give away small trees, including Swamp White Oak, Persimmon, and Pignut Hickory seedlings, all of which are native species.Pre-orders for Milkweed, Purple Coneflower, and Black-eyed Susans will begin April 21.Trees will be available starting April 23 and are on a first-come, first-served availability, one seedling per family. For more information about Bird House on the Greenway, please visit their website:birdhouseonthegreenway.com/📷: April Kelher ...
